National Harbor, MD- January 21, 2022- Envue Eye & Laser Center is excited to offer the first office-based catract and implantable collamer lens (ICL) operating suite in the DC Area. After a military career spanning 30 years, Dr. Rivers brought his expertise to Prince George’s County opening Envue Eye & Laser Center in October 2021. As a premiere vision correction surgery facility and ophthalmology practice, Dr. Rivers, in collaboration with iOR partners, completed the first office-based cataract surgeries on 19 January 2022. Office based surgery is a modern and patient-friendly alternative to cataract surgery conducted in hospitals or ambulatory surgery centers and elevates the patient
experience.
In addition to the procedures above, Envue offers cutting edge technology for vision correcting corneal laser refractive surgery such as small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE), also considered flap-less LASIK, LASIK, and photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). A graduate of Howard University College of Medicine and a military trained ophthalmologist, Dr. Rivers became a leader in laser surgery as the first ophthalmologist in the U.S. Military to perform the SMILE procedure and corneal collagen cross-linking. He has co-authored numerous research articles and presentations on refractive and corneal surgery and is an in-demand speaker in his field. Continuing Dr. Rivers’ drive to explore opportunities to enhance the patient experience, Dr. Rivers is now offering vision correction procedures to all interested patients, including veterans.
